 Verified Brilliant Northern Lights experience with Flexitour
We booked a Northern lights tour with Flexitour in advance of our cruise ship arriving in Tromso, so it was a complete risk as to what we would get.  Absolutely, you can book this company with complete confidence that you will be looked after and receive top service from Daniel the guide.We has a fabulous evening in the company of 5 other passengers from our cruise.  Daniel supplied all the necessary boots, foot warmers, cold weather gear etc to make us all snug as a bug.  He also provided a fire pit food he cooked on it and plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate.We had a spectaular showing of the Northern Lights and all had our photos taken with the lights in the backgound.  Daniel also supplied tripods for those of us that forgot to bring them.  We have also received all the photos Daniel took of the lights, including a great time lapse sequence.  Verified Great Northern Lights experience
In October, I booked a tour with Flexitour to see the Northern Lights. The contact in advance with Daniel, who also ran the tour on 29.10.2022, was very nice. Due to bad weather conditions in the Tromsø area, Daniel drove our group to Finland, where we had a cloudless sky and could see the Northern Lights at their best. Daniel also took photos of the Northern Lights and the trip participants standing under the Northern Lights. The photos were then made available the next day via a link for viewing or downloading. I can only recommend everyone to book a tour with Flexitour to see the Northern Lights. Daniel was a very nice and great guide and the tour was certainly a great experience for everyone.

 Verified Great evening with Aurora
It was a great evening with our guide Daniel! We were lucky that weather forecast was pretty good, that we only had to drive to Sommarøy. As Daniel found a good place to wait for Aurora, we made a bonfire and food and hot drinks were served. I told Daniel before, that I have a few intolerances and he brought special food for me - very nice! The sky got more clear that we were lucky to see first light Aurora. We stayed at the place for some time and Daniel took few pictures of us. On the way back to Tromsø, we made few more stops, as Aurora was getting a little bit stronger. It was a very great evening with a very nice guide. Daniel had much knowledge of Aurora, weather, stars and a bit norwegian history. I highly recommend this Ttour!

 Verified Incredible Northern Lights Adventure
This was the highlight of our trip to Tromso. Daniel is incredibly knowledgeable and kind, and a top-tier tour guide. We appreciated how Daniel is very upfront about the chances of seeing Northern Lights. If the conditions are not right, he will help you pick another night and reschedule. Not only did we see amazing northern lights, but Daniel helped us set up our cameras and took professional pictures of us as well. He also made sure we had a great experience by setting up a fire, making sure everyone was well taken care of, and even shared local delicacies of his home country.  Verified Amazing night by the amazing Daniel !
If you want to hunt northern lights with a caring and professional guide.. You got all here with Daniel ! From the reservation process until the beginning of the activity , Daniel is constantly doing everything that the expererience is comfortable,  safe and successful. Based on the weather conditions , he took us to the Grotenfjord. It was the 3rd time we were seeing Northern lights , but this was by far the most intimate and comfortable of all we had before.The site was gorgeus ( right by the fjord ) , all the setting very comfortable and well organised.  Chairs..Reindeer blankets to keep warm..Great barbecue.. Drinks.. Camp fire and of course the amazing views of the Aurora.Daniel was constantly making sure we were comfortable and well care of.His predictions of intensity and viewing of Aurora were spot. If you want to have a private and intimate Northern light experience...Stop searching..  Verified Fun Adventure Chasing the Lights!
The weather in Tromsø was raining, so Daniel put us on a trek to Finland. It snowed the majority of the trip, but when we got to Finland, the weather cleared and we had a phenomenal time observing the aurora. He set up a fire and cooked for us while we marveled at the lights and the night stars. He also had cold weather gear for those not quite equipped for the weather.  Verified Craziest NL chase
Initially booked the NL tour  with another company, but due to bad weather cancellation, on the day we booked, was offered us the possibility to be transferred to Flexitour the next days. We had the craziest NL chase. Daniel put a lot of effort trying to make our experience one of a kind and to make most out of it. He drove nearly 3 - 3.5 hrs to different places, discussing and consulting several other guides in order to find the best spot for capturing the NL. He made also bonfire and cooked for us sausages and vegetarian schnitzel, provided boots and thermal suits.  Even though the sky was pretty clear on some places the Aurora activity was very low unfortunately, being also at the end of the season. However, Daniel went extra mile and eventually captured a glimpse of shy NL for 1-2 minutes, making some nice pics. Really recommend.

Daniel was very well prepared and despite challenging weather conditions he managed to find great Northern Lights for us. On top Daniel was an extremely kind and caring guide who was doing everything in his powers to give us an unforgettable tour. He supported with warm clothing, great tasting food and drinks and kept us up to date on the forecast and what we could expect. We brought our two teenagers along and they were both super excited about the experience. On top Daniel took a lot of great photo's and videos that he shared with us the day after the tour. He taught me as well how to configure my own camera to capture the northern light. All in all Daniel gave us the time of our life and he will forever be a legend in our family. Winter in Northern Norway brings amazing natural theater visible on the sky during long polar nights-aurora borealis.
Already old cultures considered northern lights as one of the most extraordinary and spectacular experience which is never twice the same.

That’s why we can chase aurora again and again with hope that tonight it will be surprising and colorful as never before.
If you would like to experience this tour with us, we will take you with our minibus to some of the best places to watch northern lights where we will be surrounded with magnificent mountains and fjords far away from the city lights and busy civilization.

During the whole tour we stay in touch with another experienced guides for getting weather updates from different locations and we follow 3 different weather forecasts to make right conclusions where to go.

With our two full frame cameras will are ready to take portraits of you with northern lights in the background, plus northern lights and scenery photos. Time-lapse/video we offer in case of nice strong aurora activity. We will gladly help you with our warm clothing and photo equipment which you may need here in Arctic.

Cozy camp fire, hot drinks with muffins and fruits will be ready for you while we wait for northern lights.

Included

Warm dresses: Winter thermal one piece suits : adult sizes XS-XXXL (XS is extra small adult size and XXXL is extra large adult size). Please let us know your clothing sizes and we prepare for you our winter dresses. (please take 2-3 layers of warm clothing under our thermal suits and very warm, thick woolen socks, if possible).
Kids sizes: from age of 5. Please write us the height and age of your kids and please request child seats for kids under 150 centimeter high. (please bring very warm shoes for your kids).
Light snacks : two muffins and one fruit
Hot drinks: Fruit tea without sugar (black currant and cherry), hot chocolate/cocoa, warm water.
Camp fire with camping chairs and small reindeer skins/mat.
Tripods: for your camera (upon written request). Please bring your own mobile phone tripods.
Photos: Depending on northern lights activity, we will send 2-3 best portraits of each customer to your email address by email/dropbox link the next day, please let us know your email address on your booking.
Scenic Aurora photos: Besides portraits, we will send you up to 10 scenic northern lights pictures from our tour.

Accessibility, Cancellation policy, Weather and recommended clothing information.

Tours are provided by a comfortable minibus (or smaller minivan) and are suitable for all ages.
Please feel free to contact us if you need to reserve child seat/s.
Weather conditions in the Arctic can change rapidly, so please count on the possibility of rain/snow, wind and sub zero temperatures between the months of September- May. Wind, (especially combined with rain/snow) can intensify the cold and may feel much colder than forecasted.
Wind and waterproof clothing is generally recommended whenever you are touring in the Arctic, as well as easy, removable layer/s for your comfort during the whole journey- which you may store inside of our minibus/minivan.
If possible, please bring solid, waterproof (and in winter) really warm shoes. This will serve you well during all your adventures around Tromsø. Warm thick woolen socks are really reccomended to bring with during whole autumn/winter period (Oct-April).

Please consider to bring with you travel insurance which would cover unexpectet health and material issues (or flights delays f.e.).

Cancellation policy and money refund policy:

95% money refund for cancellations 24 hours before the tour (or any time early that 24 hours).
As well as no money refund to participants who does not come to our meeting point (entrance of Scandic Ishavshotel) and who would be more than 10 minutes late.

We try to proceed all scheduled fjord tours unless these factors/conditions occur;

1. If we receive combined bookings of less than 4 participants (for our regular fjord tour). . In such a case, we will try to change your booking to another day. We can also try to find another tour provider if you are unable to reschedule to another day. Private tours do not require a minimum number of participants.
2. Road conditions are dangerously slippery and the weather forecast and/or local news confirms dangerous, icy conditions.
3. Road is closed due to heavy snow, strong winds and/or avalanche danger.
4. Unexpected technical problems with our transportation (we will contact you and do our very best to find another mode of transportation or try to find for you another good tour provider).
In the event we are unable to get another mode of transport or find you a different provider, we will gladly provide a refund in full.
5. Our guide falls sick and we are unable to find a replacement (in such a case, we will try to change the date or schedule you with another tour provider.

It is recommended to bring with you (or to rent) very solid, and extremely warm winter shoes which manage snow, rain and freezing sub zero temperatures (occasionally up to minus 30 degrees Celsius ).

Please provide to us your contact Information (phone number and email), where we can reach you in case of bad weather forecast, or if we would like to offer you earlier departure time due to the early northern lights activity, or in case of very long drive (to Finland f.e).

Cancellation policy

Free cancellation 24 hours before the tour

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour with 95% money refund (your 5% goes to bank transfers/fees).

Less than 24 hours before the tour : no money refund, unless these conditions occurs:

In case of very bad weather forecast (when most of other companies are canceling their tours due to the bad weather forecast as well), we are offering free cancellation of our northern lights tour with 95% money refund policy.

That offer can happen anytime within 24 hours before the tour (by email, or message, so please check your email regularly during the day of your tour), and can happen latest at the meeting place when we are meeting our customers at 6pm.

We are comparing 3 different weather forecasts updates just before the tour for whole Tromso region (250 kilometers range) and for Finnish border/Finland as well.
Weather forecast may change very fast here in Tromsø region, therefore we are following latest updates from all 3 weather forecasts.

Please note that northern lights are natural phenomenon and not every night are strong and/or bright.
Usually we can see only about 30% of it’s brightness and colours resolution with our naked eyes vs. camera/pictures brightness and colours resolution which you can see on pictures.

We do every tour our very best to find for you as clear sky as possible and wait for appearance of northern lights, however there is no guarantees of seeing northern lights, because it is natural phenomenon.

For customers who wish to proceed tour only with good weather conditions and with good weather/northern lights activity forecast, we kindly recommend to proceed booking of their tour no more than 48 hours before the tour, because more than two days in advance there is no reliable weather forecast. And only one hour in advance we get updates for northern lights activity which is measured by satelite.
Therefore we wish to informe you, that we can’t provide you informations about weather forecast for more than 48 hours in advance, because weather conditions may change very fast here in Tromsø area and in Finland as well.

Please note that we run our tours with minimum of 4 participants.
If we don’t reach that minimum number of participants, we will try to help you out with finding another good provider (or offer you another date), however every provider has different prices which difference would be covered by you and we can provide to you full money refund (including all bank charges).

Please feel free to purchase your own travel and health insurance which would cover your losses in case of your flights delays, or your health problems, or for any damage of your personal belongings during your travels and during your stay in Tromsø, which we are not taking any responsibility for.
